この人、アインシュタインとも交流のあった数学者。
矢野先生は、もう故人ですけど、お弟子さんの茂木勇先生による改訂版がこれ。
算数の水準を世界水準にまであげたのは、遠山啓先生の水道方式。
しかし、こちらは、理屈過剰の癖がなきにもしあらず。
この遠山先生も、東京工業大学の同僚であるけど、遠山先生と比較すると、矢野先生の解説は、ややスマートかな、と。
この本の最後には、文章題とか数の不思議の証明もあり、タメにもなり楽しめる。
親が子供の算数を指導するには、ぜひとも、読んでおきたい解説書ですね。おすすめ!　そう、かなりおすすめ!

昭和の時代の算数教育は相当充実していることが分かりました。
計算では、桁数の多い掛け算や余りのある小数同士の割り算などの仕組み。
円周率では、方眼法を用いて円周率が約３．１４を出していること。
数えることでは、いろいろな工夫を紹介。
高校数学の数学的帰納法で学ぶ内容の視覚的な説明、などなど。
エリート諸氏のゆとり世代を見下す発言は感じよくないですが、
その気持ちが分かる気もしたのは、昭和の算数教育を想っての感想。
